My biggest achievement as a photographer so far is being accepted as a Click Pro Elite member and so I wanted to talk a little bit about what that means and why I’m so proud of it. When I first started photography, I learned of the Click Community – at the time they were known as ClickinMoms and they were well known within the industry as being an incredible online resource for learning everything you would want to know about becoming a photographer. As soon as I joined I knew what a wonderful community it was going to be – many incredible photographers from around the world mentor there and they were so generous with their knowledge and time. I quickly became quite addicted to learning and through them and their sister brand, ‘Click Store’, where I took many, many classes, I became more and more confident using my camera. 

Click Pro Elite is part of the Click brand – it’s an association of female photographers from around the world who are invited to join if, after an intense portfolio review from a panel of 3 judges, are deemed to meet the very high standards required for acceptance. Those judges include the director of Click Pro Elite, ‘Courtney Larson’ – who also happens to be one of the top 10 wedding photographers in North America. Applicants are judged on the following categories:

EXPOSURE TRIANGLE
USE OF LIGHT
COLOUR & WHITE BALANCE
COMPOSITION
PROCESSING & COHESION
TECHNICAL BASICS
CREATIVITY & INTENTION

I’ll be honest in that it was a really difficult, gruelling process. Looking at your work critically and judging every single element of each image is not an easy task. Images that originally made it would get culled as my skills improved and the images that I once thought were my best work, no longer were. BUT I absolutely grew so much as a photographer as I prepared my portfolio of 150 images for review. I was absolutely over the moon to be accepted – not only for the recognition of my hard work and abilities but also to be part of a community of so many other talented women from all around the world – it’s such an honour. Other achievements of mine include being published in This Detailed Life Magazine, I’ve been published on the Click Magazine blog twice and I’ve also made the Top 10 in the Click Pro Elite Daily of the Week.

My dream one day would be to teach – I’ll always love photographing families – others and of course my own but having the opportunity to share my knowledge with other aspiring photographers is something that I know I would find so enjoyable!
