This Mama, Kirsty, was just incredible – I mean absolutely stunning of course but she was so sweet & so lovely to work with. She came with her husband Luke who clearly adored her & they had the best connection. Often Dads can be a little more reserved but he was really great from the start – or maybe it was the beer I gave him at the beginning of the session 😆

For styling – Kirsty borrowed a beautiful dress from another client of mine as they were friends. The dress is from one of my favourite shops for shoots – Free People. All of their dresses are so gorgeous, they’re flattering, they swish, they photograph like a dream. If you can stretch to purchasing one for your shoot – you will absolutely not regret it. I also have two Free People Dresses available in my Client Wardrobe if you’d like to use one of mine. With a maternity shoot, the Mama is always the star of the show and for that reason I usually style Moms first and then plan everyone else around that. Luke kept things simple and opted for a soft blue shirt so Kirsty and that gorgeous bump remained the focus.

We shot this session at my lake location. It’s an absolutely beautiful place in the summer and works so well for maternity shoots. Kirsty wanted some semi-nude photos so she brought some black underwear and stepped in the water at the end of the session so I got some stunning bump photos of her.

We were so blessed with the weather – so much golden light which just brought the whole place to life. I get so excited when we have this kind of light at a session – it’s just so dreamy and gorgeous!

This was Kirsty’s very last baby – her first girl after three boys so it was a real honour to document that for her. And how amazing for her little girl to be able to see these images when she grows up…
